After training as a film editor, Beatrix Conrad studied musicology, ethnomusicology and journalism at the Free University of Berlin from 1991 to 1997. While still a student, she worked as an assistant director on classical music productions for television (MDR, BR, ORB, WDR, SFB, ZDF, EuroArts). After graduating, she completed an editorial traineeship at the television production company AVE in Berlin and was then hired as an editor in the music department. She has been working as a freelance director and author since 2010. Classical music continues to be the focus of her work in television and video.
